Joe Flatman's volume on Becoming an Archaeologist has been shortlisted for the Current Archaeology Book of the Year 2012.

Joe's handbook, a guide to professional pathways, which is published by Cambridge University Press, provides an informative view of the various career paths in archaeology and the mechanics of gaining employment. It outlines in straightforward fashion the entire process of getting a job in archaeology, including the various options, the training that is required and how to get positions in the academic, commercial and government worlds.  Excerpts from the book are available online here»

Joe's book is one of five publications which it was felt deserved special recognition. Voting is possible via the Current Archaeology website and the results will be available in the April issue of Current Archaeology.
