Stone tool from the Institute's collections

The Institute's collections of stone tools will be showcased at UCL's Festival of Geology on 6 November.

Archaeological objects made from different minerals will be exhibited to demonstrate how people in the past made use of various types of stone, indicating issues of  wealth and trade in these periods.  Object handling sessions will be available with Institute staff and students present to interpret the material and answer queries from the public regarding the collections.

A mosaic-making activity is also being organised with an opportunity for visitors to take away their own paper mosaic inspired by ancient mosaics from the Institute's collections.

Any enquiries about the Institute's participation in the Festival of Geology should be directed to Ian Carroll.
