The Anthropology Department at UCL is one of the largest in the country and its staff are engaged in pioneering research at the cutting-edge of modern anthropology. It is composed of three sections; Social and Cultural Anthropology, Material Culture and Biological Anthropology which offer a wide range of courses to students from all over the world with a wide variety of educational backgrounds. We are proud of our excellent staff-student ratio and ability to provide small-group teaching. Located in the heart of London , UCL offers access to world-renowned resources including libraries, ethnographic collections, and laboratories.

Combining social and biological sciences, our undergraduate degree programmes will prepare you for a wide range of career possibilities, such as museum and design-related work, journalism, government, public health, local and international NGO and community work, as well as further academic study. Our PhD training programme provides students with a full training in the conception, management and execution of a major personal research project. Working under the guidance of a dedicated supervisor, students are also offered a rangeof taught courses such as methodology and research.
