Fees, Costs and Requirements
THE TWO MASTERS MODULE COURSES ANTHGS20 &
ANTHGS25
Fees
Students who are taking
other courses such as PhDs, or in rare cases undergraduate degrees or who are
not taking this course for credit as part of a UCL anthropology masters degree
or are outside UCL and all members of the public have to pay the full
unsubsidised rate of £1,500. However if
their university or UCL department pays a contribution , we can reduce the fee
by that amount.
Credits from this course can only be counted towards a
masters degree. Non-masters
participants can audit the courses and receive a certificate.
Non-university graduates may audit these courses and receive
a certificate.
Payments must be made through the credit card system
downloadable here.
An advance deposit of 50% is required before the
course begins. On receipt of this you
will receive a guaranteed place on the course, subject to being approved for
the course by the course tutor. Final
payment of the remaining 50% must be made before the first day of term in which
the curse runs. Failure to pay the final
instalment will result in rejection and loss of the advance deposit
Costs
You will need to provide your own media, tapes and
DVDs. You will need your own external
hard drive (minimum capacity 500 GB) to store and edit your media.
You will be responsible for the department cameras and
equipment. You are liable for any damage or loss.
Requirements
No previous experience with video making is required. We take absolute beginners, though previous
experience is beneficial to your approval for the course. With the exception of mature and suitably
motivated applicants, applicants need to be computer literate graduates. Applicants taking any anthropology masters
degree will have priority places.
Beyond the 36 contact hours, you will receive one-to-one
supervision while making your own video project. The time spent shooting your project is up to
you, but you will need at least100-150 hours to edit your video project. This being a hands-on practical course the
reading required is minimal. While
shooting you may be working in 2-3 person teams that may require complex
logistics.
