Whither Anthropology?

Whither Anthropology

The Department of Anthropology, UCL warmly invites you to join your fellow pre-field research students (MRes, MPhil) from UCL, Cambridge and LSE to present and discuss your current research projects.

The workshop aims to be a space in which the theoretical, methodological and pragmatic aspects of MRes/PhD research may all be explored, providing the chance to hear the comments and critiques of peers from a variety of Anthropology departments. By widening the audience in this way, we hope to look beyond the walls of our particular departments and the traditions they maintain and widen our perspectives through inter-departmental conversation. Additionally, the workshop aims to expand the notion of the cohort, engendering a community of support that research students may draw upon before, during and after fieldwork. Finally, as the 'future of anthropology', we hope the workshop will be a space in which to debate the directions the discipline is taking and what shape we aim to make it in the future.

If you would like to take part please send a short abstract outlining your research project to Liz Fox elizabeth.fox.10@ucl.ac.uk by the 21st of March. Lunch and refreshments will be provided and some travel bursaries may be available. If you need a place to stay in London, or can offer a traveling student accommodation, please include this with your abstract.
