Professor Christopher Pinney Curating Studio Suhag

Professor Christopher Pinney is curating an exhibition of studio photographs by Suresh Punjabi from central India at Art Heritage Gallery in New Delhi as part of Delhi Photo Festival. The images are scanned from negatives, dating from the late 1970s rescued from a warehouse damaged in the monsoon three years ago. Tara Books (Chennai) are publishing City in Effigy: Photographs from Studio Suhag to coincide with the exhibition. Pinney will be talking about the archive at the opening on 25th September and also giving a lecture on "The Civil Contract of Photography in India" as part of the festival on 29th September.
