Poster Competition Won by Anthropology Student Kathleen Bryson

1 March 2013

Post Competition

UCL ran its 2012/13 Graduate School Research Poster Competition on 25th and 26th February. The event is intended to enable graduate students to advertise their innovative research. Overall, 247 posters were displayed in the North & South Cloisters.

First prize in the faculty grouping "Arts & Humanities, Laws, Social & Historical Sciences" was secured by Kathleen Bryson, PhD student in the Department of Anthropology supervised by Prof Volker Sommer. Her poster entitled "Evolving the Binary: Are We Already Living on the Planet of the Apes?" featured a case study that explored fixity and ambiguity in social and scientific categories. The judges lauded Kathleen's work for its simple explanations of complex concepts. Congratulations!
