UCL Anthropology

Christopher Pinney, Professor of Anthropology and Visual Culture at UCL has been awarded the Padma Shri on the occasion of Republic Day by the Government of India.

Professor Pinney was given the award under the category of Literature and Education, for his distinguished service in the field. Non-citizens of India are very rarely given the Padma Shri, and Professor Pinney was one of three persons of non-Indian origin to receive the award this year.
