How do you feel about having an anaesthetic?

Please use this page if you were having problems viewing the movies!

Worried, relaxed, curious?

We asked some patients to describe their experiences before and after their anaesthetic at UCL Hospitals. They agreed to being filmed so that others could benefit.

Some people (patients 1-8 below) had a general anaesthetic, where they were completely asleep. For others a regional/local anaesthetic (patients 9-11 lower down the page) which  involved numbing the part of their body to be operated on was more appropriate.

Thank you to the patients, Cameron Egan, Kevin Yip and Dr Kathy Satkurunath for putting this together.

If you have any comments - please fill in the feedback card (if you were given one- you might win one of the M+S vouchers!) or get in touch via the feedback tool below.
