A two day introductory course aimed at those who want to learn Ultrasound Guided Regional Anaesthesia (UGRA)
We are proud to announce our 2 day UGRA course at University College Hospital.
UCH is one of London’s three designated hospitals for the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic games. We have also recently been awarded funding for a UCLH / UCL Institute of Sport Exercise and Health in order to provide a lasting legacy in sport and exercise medicine from the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic games.
To celebrate our Olympic year our course will be held in two excellent venues on Wed & Thursday 13 & 14th June 2012

- interventional radiology teaching and phantom practice

- cadaveric teaching at UCL department of anatomy
- real time cadaveric ultrasound guided nerve block practice

Day 1 Wednesday UCL Anatomy Department, Rockefeller Building The anatomy lectures will be delivered by the Royal College of Surgeons Professor of Surgical Anatomy, Professor Vishy Mahadevan. The cadaveric anatomy teaching will be led by both anaesthetists and surgeons on both cadavers and prosected anatomy specimens. There will be an opportunity to both ultrasound scan and practice in-plane and out-of-plane needling techniques on the cadavers. 09.00 Upper Limb Anatomy Lecture 10.30 Upper Limb Cadaveric UGRA Practice 12.00 Lunch 13.00 Lower Limb Anatomy Lecture 14.30 Lower Limb Cadaveric UGRA Practice Day 2 Thursday UCH Education Centre 250 Euston Road The sonoantomy lectures will be delivered by expert regional anaesthetists. We will focus on essential knowledge of the ultrasound machine, probe handling and safe needling techniques. Live model scanning of the upper limb, lower limb, belly and back will be led by anaesthetists experienced in UGRA.
