Grant for Institute from the Foundation for Canadian Studies
30 August 2012

The Institute of the Americas has been awarded a significant
grant by the Foundation for Canadian Studies in the United Kingdom on behalf of
its new Canadian Studies programme in 2012-2013.
The programme will commence in October 2012 and will include fortnightly seminars on Canada-related research themes as well as two conferences – one on Canada, the US and the Arctic in February 2013 and another on the career of William Lyon Mackenzie King in July 2013. An important feature of the programme will be prizes and bursaries for undergraduate and postgraduate students working on Canadian topics. Speaking after the result of the grant application was announced, Dr Tony McCulloch, Senior Fellow in Canadian Studies at the Institute, said: “We are very grateful to the Foundation for its generous support of our Canadian Studies programme which will help to put into effect our plans to make the UCL Institute of the Americas a major centre for Canadian Studies both within London and within the UK”.
