Graduate Bursary Support Scheme

Graduate Support Scheme

UCL-Institute of the Americas is pleased to announce its participation in the UCL Graduate Bursary Support Scheme 2014 (also known as Graduate Support Scheme or Graduate Support Bursary). The scheme continues UCL’s tradition of making high quality education accessible. UCL was founded in 1826 to open up education in England for the first time to students of any background. It was also the first university to welcome female students on equal terms with men.

Two bursaries, consisting of a fee waiver and a stipend of £10,000, are available for students from traditionally under-represented groups applying to our full-time MA in Latin American Studies.

Applicants and bursary holders will also have the benefit of having access to a mentor, who is a PhD student at the Institute having previously completed the MA. There is also childcare support to assist parents whilst studying.

The bursary application is based upon annual household income and is separate to the admissions application which is based on academic merit. This scheme is open to prospective students domiciled in the UK (that is, UK is your country of "ordinary residence”) who have "Home" tuition fee status. To be considered both application forms (the bursary application and the application to the MA in Latin American Studies) need to be submitted by June 30, 2014.

If you are interested in applying then we would like to encourage you to attend our Open Day on May 8, 2014, from 2 to 6 pm. The Open Day will include a talk from the MA Course Director and a taster session. Reasonable travel costs will be reimbursed. For initial enquiries please contact the institute Post Graduate Programs Officer, Ms Laura Tunstall at l.tunstall@ucl.ac.uk.
