UCL-Institute of the Americas and ABColombia are honoured to welcome Colombian journalist Jineth Bedoya Lima to deliver this talk.

This event will look at the extensive but hidden practice of sexual violence by all actors in Colombia’s fifty-year conflict and the role of women, like Jineth, in campaigning against sexual crimes and discrimination against women and to break the culture of impunity in Colombia. The short video 'Sundays of Sorrow' will be shown. For more information on this event, please click here.

Jineth Bedoya Lima is a Colombian journalist carrying out investigative work on the armed conflict, drug trafficking, organised crime and issues around women and violence. Due to her work, Jineth has experienced violence from different actors of Colombia’s armed conflict, including being kidnapped, tortured and raped in 2000 by the AUC, a right-wing paramilitary group. In October this year, she was chosen as one of the 100 most influential journalists covering conflict around the world.

Attendance is free of charge but registration is required.
