Publication date: Jan 30, 2013 3:22:46 PM

Start: May 14, 2013 6:30:00 PM
End: May 14, 2013 8:00:00 PM

Location: UCL Gustave Tuck Lecture Theatre, Gower Street, London WC1E 6BT

Maxine Molyneux is a political sociologist specialising in Latin America. She has written widely on development theory and policy, citizenship and rights, social policy, social movements and gender inequality.

In this lecture, Prof Molyneux explores the two waves of migration began in the Americas commencing around 1960. One from the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean to the USA, Canada and Spain; the other, a more moderate but still significant trend of inter-regional migration within Latin America. What light do these movements of people cast on the debates about migration? How far did they transform the societies that exported and imported these new migrant waves?

Attendance to the lecture and the reception is free, but registration is required.
