Nick Witham, British Association of American Studies fellow at UCL-Institute of the Americas, examines popular history writing in the US after World War II.  He traces how historians like Richard Hofstadter and Arthur Schlesinger wrote for an audience beyond the academy and interpreted the Cold War, the Civil Rights Revolution, and Vietnam into a national narrative for a large readership.
