CICS and CES launch new Creative Critical Writing PhD
26 September 2012
The Centre for Intercultural Studies and the Centre for European Studies have launched a new PhD devoted to the study of literary procedures in developing arguments and ideas.
Providing an opportunity to develop research ideas in a variety of forms without being restricted to conventional academic prose, the PhD in Creative Critical Writing gives students the opportunity to study the interplay of form and content; including the essay, the dialogue, biography, travel writing, self-reflexive diary and critical journal, and the translation, amongst others. The PhD will also allow students to investigate practically, as well as analytically, the discursive forms in which the material they study is produced.
The couse should appeal to students seeking to produce research aimed at an academic audience, but is not restricted to it: students considering careers in the media will also benefit from producing PhD material accessible to a diverse audience.
Applications will be considered from September 2012. Applications from current pre-upgrade Arts and Humanities students to transfer to this pathway may be considered by their supervisors with immediate effect.
Interested students should contact Professor Timothy Mathews.
