Call for funding Applications: UCL, Bloomsbury and East London Doctoral Training Partnership

24 November 2016

ESRC Research Studentships: 2017 entry

More than 40 studentships funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) are available. Deadline: 3 February 2017

The newly commissioned UCL, Bloomsbury and East London Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP) is delighted to invite applications for studentships to start in October 2017.

UBEL DTP is offering over 40 ESRC-funded studentships across the DTP institutions: UCL, SOAS, Birkbeck, UEL and LSHTM.

The DTP offers a range of routes (+3; 1+3; 2+3 and +4) across its 25 pathways. Please check the pathway pages on the DTP website for more information regarding pathway contacts, research interests and routes.

You will need to contact your chosen institution in the first instance to ensure you comply with any initial application requirements.

Standard studentships

Expressions of interest are invited from suitably qualified students for each of 25 disciplinary and interdisciplinary pathways.

Please see the DTP website for further details and the process for making contact and an initial application in each pathway.

Co-funded studentships

The DTP has an ambitious programme of studentships that are co-funded by business and public sector organisations. Current collaborations are likely to be of particular interest to prospective students who want to work with new forms of consumer or travel data, and will give students first hand career experience of real world problem solving using state-of-the-art methods and data sources not normally available in the university sector. Applicants interested in working with Boots, EasyJet, the Local Data Company or Transport for West Midlands should consult the CDRC website for further details and direct enquiries to the Consumer Data Research Centre (CDRC) via Sarah Sheppard.

There are also opportunities for joint studentships with the NERC DTP in areas of Geography at the social science/natural science interface. Please contact Dr Alan Ingram if you are interested in exploring this possibility.

Deadline for full applications: Friday 3 February 2017 at 16.00
