Professor K. Anne Pyburn

K. Anne Pyburn is Professor of Anthropology at Indiana University where she is Director of the Center for Archaeology in the Public Interest (CAPI), the Chau Hiix Project in Belize, the Community Cultural Resource Management for the Silk Road Project in Kyrgyzstan, and the MATRIX Project for educational development in archaeology

Professor Pyburn’s interests include archaeological research ethics, heritage and globalization, gender, early cities, the ancient Maya, and the growing emphasis on heritage and national identity in Kyrgyzstan.

She is currently serving as chair of the International Scientific Committee for the next World Archaeological Congress (WAC-7).
