Professor Pedro Funari

Pedro Paulo A. Funari is Professor of Historical Archaeology at the University of Campinas, Brazil, and research associate at Illinois State University, USA, and the University of Barcelona, Spain.

His research interests are the archaeology of historical societies and public archaeology. A former World Archaeology Congress secretary, he is committed to fostering archaeological engagement with society.

Professor Funari has published several books and more than 300 articles. His recent work includes the edited volumes Historical Archaeology: Back from the Edge (1999, with Martin Hall and Sian Jones), Global Archaeological Theory (2005, with Andres Zarankin and Emily Stovel) and Memories from Darnkness: the archaeology of repression and resistance in Latin America (2009, with Andres Zarankin and Melisa Salerno).
