"sevitcepsrep" - is that a typo? A foreign
word? A city? A medical term? - It could be anything you want it to be,
depending on how you look at it!
Caught up in a world where hustle and bustle dominates everyday life, one only has time to digest information that is presented to us, but rarely do we have the time to take up further inspection, to challenge what has been presented to us, to push the boundaries of what is defined to be real - to look at something in a completely new way. Inspired from the Latin word 'perspicere' which means to inspect carefully, TEDxUCL with the theme 'Perspectives' aims to stop time, and challenge each person to view the world with different glasses on - each showing us a different dimension we might have never considered before.
This is the very first year TEDx is happening at UCL and to differentiate ourselves from other TEDx university events, we have decided not to invite any external speakers but rather, showcase the amazing talent we have within UCL from our pool of talented staff and students.
In the works we have not only talks planned, but several other surprises, so be prepared for a day of experiences. Ticket registration opens on the 4th of May and we only have 100 tickets up for sale!
For more information join our mailing list or visit our website at www.tedxucl.org
Or email us at info@tedxucl.org for any burning questions you might have!
Figured out "sevitcepsrep" yet?- if you look at it backwards ,it simply reads - Perspectives, but hey, who is to say words need to be read from left to right all the time!?
About TEDx, x = independently organized event
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)
About TED
TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Started as a four-day conference in California 26 years ago, TED has grown to support those world-changing ideas with multiple initiatives. At TED, the world's leading thinkers and doers are asked to give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes. Talks are then made available, free, at TED.com. TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Benoit Mandelbrot, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Isabel Allende and former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown. Two major TED events are held each year: The TED Conference takes place every spring in Long Beach, California (along with a parallel conference, TEDActive, in Palm Springs), and TEDGlobal is held each summer in Edinburgh, Scotland.
