In 2012 the Centre for Innovation established two leading edge high performance computing platforms to accelerate research.
Formed by the Universities of Oxford, Bristol, Southampton and UCL the consortium is established to engage with Industry across a broad research spectrum.
As part of this initiative the Emerald cluster was deployed, a 372 NVidia M2090 based system, the UK number 1 GPU based system built in collaboration with HP, Gnodal, Panasas, and hosted by the STFC Rutherford Appleton Laboratories.
The purpose of this one day forum at University College London is to introduce industry to the potential of using GPU based computing technology within their research.
by NVidia, the day will provide exemplars of research already using GPU
technology through to an introduction on how to get started. Experts
from the Centre for Innovation and NVidia will be on-hand to discuss
requirements and provide advice on how to start using GPUs and access
the Emerald service.
