The e-Infrastructure South consortium are holding a one day event focusing on the research applications and use of GPU in accelerating industrial research applications.

This will be an interactive event and provide the opportunity to see exemplars of research applications that have made a successful transition to GPUs, as well as engage with researchers who depend on these machines on a day-to-day basis, enabling you to hear the benefits GPUs have brought to their research as well as understanding the technical considerations in migrating to this novel architecture.
In addition to hearing from those that have made a successful transition to GPU computing, members of the e-infrastructure south consortium, NVIDIA and HP will be on hand to discuss points to consider and first steps in GPU computing, provide updates on current and future technology in this area, and detail how industry can access large scale, GPU enabled HPC via the EMERALD GPU system.
The EMERALD system is the 372 NVIDIA GPU based system operated by the e-Infrastructure South Consortium. It is currently the UK’s number 1 ranked, closely coupled GPU system, providing the capability to efficiently scale from a single to hundreds of GPUs in one machine. As well as the opportunity to hold one-on-one “how to” discussions with members of the consortium we will also be happy to discuss how you can gain proof of concept access to the EMERALD cluster.
Overall this is a great opportunity to not only hear what GPUs can do, but more importantly a great opportunity to discuss what GPUs can potentially do for you.
If you wish to attend this event then please contact Dai Jenkins at david.jenkins@ucl.ac.uk or Dr Andrew Richards at andrew.richards@oerc.ox.ac.uk to confirm. Alternatively if you wish to take advantage of this event but cannot attend we would be happy for you to pass this invitation onto a colleague within CCFE.
