Lillian Shapiro is Student Business Advisor for UCL Advances, providing advice, guidance and encouragement to UCL students who are seeking to start their own businesses.

Lillian joined UCL Advances in October 2010. Alongside her UCL role, Lillian continued to run her own business acceleration consultancy Amiba, which she co-founded in 2001, until 2015, and advised start-up businesses as a Prince’s Trust Business Mentor for 10 years.

Prior to setting up her own business, Lillian set up and developed the European subsidiary of Harte-Hanks, a publicly quoted US CRM company, successfully merging it with an acquired company, and was promoted to International MD. Prior to that Lillian was UK MD of IDC, the world’s leading provider of technology intelligence.

Lillian started her career as a Unilever Management Trainee after graduating from Leeds University in Chemical Engineering. For several years she was a judge for the British Design Awards (Computer Software) and the Guardian Innovation Challenge.
