UCL and the University of London
UCL is the largest of over 50 colleges and institutes which make up the federal University of London. These institutions range in size from small specialised institutes to large multi-faculty colleges, such as UCL, King's College, and Queen Mary, University of London and Westfield College, each of which can be compared with many universities in the rest of the UK.
Many of the institutions are in the Bloomsbury area, close to UCL, including the University of London Computer Centre (ULCC), the Senate House Library (ULU) and Senate House, which houses the University administration as well as the University of London Library and some small institutes.

The Centre for Extra-Mural Studies at Birkbeck College organises part-time courses for the public, many leading to diploma and certificate qualifications. These classes are held in conjunction with local Adult Education Institutes throughout London.
