Phase 2
The second phase of the project involves the development of a staff training intervention (called “GetREAL”) which aims to enhance service users’ activity and hence rehabilitation. In this phase we will develop a training programme for nursing and other ward staff to help them to find ways to assist patients better with their day to day activities, such as getting to groups and getting out into the community for courses and leisure. This phase will take around 6 months and will involve consultation with occupational therapists and other mental health practitioners. We will also incorporate examples of good practice identified in the first phase of the study into this intervention program. It will be piloted in two units and modified in response to feedback.
