Eating and drinking

There are a large number of restaurants in the immediate area surrounding UCL, from Drummond Street in the north (for Indian), to Charlotte Street to the west and Covent Garden in the south (for everything else). Probably all cuisines and tastes are catered for, but those looking for British cuisine will find it harder, as we tend to take the best (and worst) of other cuisines and pass it off as our own. Those looking for British cuisine should try one of the gastro-pubs, such as 32 Great Queen Street (booking advised) and the Anchor and Hope (no bookings taken, turn up and wait) though these are not cheap.

There are over 100 pubs within one mile of UCL! The list below is only a very small selection of pubs. More pubs in the area can be found on the “Beer in the evening" website.

Jeremy Bentham, 31 University Street

The spiritual drinking ground of UCL named after its utilitarian founding father.

Carpenters Arms, 68-70 Whitfield Street

Wide range of beers on three floors.

The King & Queen, 1 Foley Street

The Exmouth Arms, 1 Starcross Street

If you like your flowers and moments of quiet reflection away from the hustle and bustle of the Euston Road then this is the place to be.

Marlborough Arms, 36 Torrington Place

Has a pool table that gives you the chance to show off your skills.

The Hope, 15 Tottenham Street
