UCL Mathematics students in winning team at the 2017 Financial Mathematics Team Challenge in Cape Town

Top students from across the world competed in the 4th annual Financial Mathematics Team Challenge (FMTC) which was held this summer in Cape Town. The event, which is jointly organised by UCL Mathematics and the University of Cape Town (UCT), was won by a team which included UCL student Yann Guguen, who worked on the FMTC project Realistic Risk Parity and called the FMTC “an amazing experience”.  More...

The Department of Mathematics is sorry to announce that Susan Brown, Emeritus Professor of Mathematics, died on Thursday 10 August 2017 at the age of 79. Professor Brown's career at UCL spanned over 40 years during which time she established herself as one of the UK's leading contributors to theoretical fluid mechanics. She made important and long-lasting contributions to viscous flow theory, separation, hypersonic boundary layers, vortex breakdown and hydrodynamic instability.
