Key Information Skills

UCL Library Services recommends that information users develop six key information skills. Click on a skill heading below to see what levels are required for you to use information effectively.

  1. Recognising your information need
  2. Using appropriate search techniques
  3. Accessing resources
  4. Evaluating information
  5. Recording sources
  6. Staying legal

Library Services offers training in information skills to all staff and students. We offer a timetable of scheduled training sessions covering the skills above. You can also arrange an individual or group session, which can take place in the library, or in your workplace.
