The Friends of the Children of Great Ormond Street Library houses an important specialist paediatric collection which supports the research, teaching and clinical work of the Institute of Child Health and Great Ormond Street Hospital.

The Library is located on the second floor of the Institute of Child Health, 30 Guilford Street. External visitors should report to the Institute's main reception desk.

Directions to the Institute of Child Health:

• By train Euston, King’s Cross and St Pancras stations are all only 15 minutes’ walk from the hospital. You can get to ICH from other mainline stations by tube or bus.
• By underground The two nearest stations to ICH are Russell Square (Piccadilly line) and Holborn (Piccadilly and Central lines). Neither station has disabled access, as they have steps leading to the platforms.
• By bus Various buses come within 15 minutes’ walk of the hospital, including route numbers 7, 8, 17, 19, 25, 38, 45, 46, 55, 59, 68, 91, 168, 188, 242, 243 and 521.

Wheelchair access to the Library is available via the main lifts and then a stair lift. Wheelchair users should ring the bell located at the top of the library's stair to alert library staff.

Borrowing

Books are listed on the “eUCLid” web catalogue at http://library.ucl.ac.uk and shelved in a classified order in the Reading Rooms. Most books may be borrowed by holders of a valid library card. Photocopying

Two self-service photocopying machines are available which are operated by cards. One machine does black copies only, the other does black or colour copies. Costs are as follows:

- Black copies: A4 - 7p, A3 - 14p
- Colour copies: A4 - 35p, A3 - 70p

Personal copy cards

Copy cards for personal use are available from the Library at a cost of £2 and £5. Both include 50p for the reusable card that can be re-credited by library staff. Please note these cards will only work in our photocopiers.

Computing Facilites

Inter Library Loans

Members of the library may apply for items to be borrowed or for copies of articles from other libraries via the Inter Library Loan service.
