Students from both the UK and the EU are eligible for this programme. We will consider any UK graduate with a minimum 2:1 BSc degree. Degree qualifications of equivalent standard (i.e. would qualify for starting a PhD thesis in your home country) obtained in other EU countries are also recognised. There is a three year UK/EU residency requirement to be eligible for the full MRC studentship award.
Applications are being accepted via UCL's online application system for students to start in September 2016. To apply click here. The closing date for applications is Sunday 3 January 2016 and the interviews will be on Saturday 23 January 2016.
For further information on the programme, please contact Ione Karney firstname.lastname@example.org.
Students who fulfill the 3 year UK /EU residency requirement will receive a non-taxable stipend from the MRC, currently £17,000.
If you are selected for interview, you will be invited to come to London to visit the LMCB on its Interview Day on January 2016. Reasonable travelling expenses will be paid, and you will spend the day visiting the laboratories, meeting PhD Programme group leaders and students already on the Programme and being interviewed. If we make you an offer, we will want you to decide whether or not you wish to accept it within a reasonable period of time as agreed with the programme director, according to your circumstances. If you accept our offer, you will be making a binding commitment to our Programme, and we will ask you to withdraw your applications for other PhD places.
