Planetary Science research in the Department of Earth Sciences at UCL is conducted by numerous people, and under the auspices of the Centre for Planetary Sciences.

This includes academic staff, research fellows and associates, postgraduates and undergraduates. For a list of those researchers that are, or were, based in the CPS room at UCL click here: People in the CPS room

Planetary science research is, by its nature, interdiscipliniary, and therefore we use a range of different methods to study the terrestrial planets and satellites. Ongoing research includes lunar geochemistry, ice and hydrates on Mars, evolution of icy moons, volcanic and tectonic processes on Venus and Mars, impact-related shock effects in minerals, and astrobiology.

We also have significant involvement with planetary missions, including past (Mariner 10, Viking, Magellan, Beagle2, Smart-1), present (Mars Express, Cassini-Huygens) and future (Chandrayaan-1, ExoMars, Bepi-Columbo) spacecraft.
