Planetary science involves exploring and understanding other planets and moons, but importantly, also applying that knowledge to better understand Earth.

UCL has a long history of Planetary Science, with research and teaching carried out since the beginning of the space age. Planetary science research is carried out by several research groups within Earth Sciences, as part of the Centre for Planetary Sciences, including: Rock & Ice Physics Laboratory, Crystallography and Mineral Physics, Planetary Ices Group

The Department of Earth Sciences hosts the UK's only Regional Planetary Image Facility (RPIF), which has received all NASA images, and other data, returned from space missions. Click on the RPIF link to view our data archive list, find links or arrange a visit.

Follow the links on the left or above to navigate through the UCL Planetary Web, or click on any image on the right throughout the site to be taken to the full resolution image at the NASA Planetary Photojournal, the first stop for anyone wanting to find planetary images.
