Pascale Hofmann, Course Co-Director and Lecturer of MSc Environment and Sustainable Development
Pascale Hofmann has several years of experience as an environmental
planner conducting research, project work and teaching. Her work is particularly
focusing on participatory environmental planning and management for sustainable
development in urban and peri-urban areas, with experience in Egypt, India,
Mexico and Europe.
Before joining the DPU she worked for Groundwork (UK environmental charity)
on local, regional and international projects for sustainable development
with particular emphasis on community participation. Previous experience
was gained in different planning studios in Germany dealing with urban
and regional issues of environmental planning and landscape architecture.
She is the co-editor of DPU News and a member of the beacon for IV World
Water Forum cross-cutting perspective dealing with institutional development
and political processes.

Research:
• 2005 – Synthesis study on peri-urban interface knowledge
(DFID). Principal researcher for the focus on reuse of urban waste.
• 2003-05 Mexico, India, Tanzania, Egypt and Venezuela. Water management
governance in the peri-urban interface (DFID). Principal researcher in
a three year research project on governance regimes of water management
to improve the livelihoods of the poor, enhance sustainability and strengthen
institutional capacity in the peri-urban interface of metropolitan regions.
