Courses
The strength of UCL's academic research in advanced instrumentation
was recognised in 1992 by the establishment of a Postgraduate Training
Partnership between UCL and SIRA, sponsored the the DTI and the
SERC.
Students studying for an industrially relevant Ph.D. were supervised
in whichever department or faculty, or at SIRA appropriate to their
own research project, but formed a separate and cohesive group looked
after by CAIS.
Almost sixty students worked on advanced instrumentation projects,
studying aspects of the human-computer interface, instruments for
medical physics and imaging systems.
Through its close relationship with the UCL Centre for Systems
Engineering, CAIS now manages a Master of Science in Systems Engineering Management.
