International Society for Utilitarian Studies (ISUS)
The International Society for Utilitarian
Studies, administered from the Bentham Project at University College London,
sponsors major conferences, seminars, and other meetings. It aims to provide
a forum for scholarly debate and research in the history of utilitarian thought,
and its present-day relevance in the fields of ethics, politics, law, economics,
and public policy. Members of the Society are entitled to a discount of 25%
on
volumes in the new authoritatve edition of The
Collected Works of Jeremy Bentham.
The Society's
conferences have recently been held in Tokyo (1994), New Orleans (1997), Wake Forest (2000), Lisbon (2003), Hanover, NH, USA (2005), London (2006).
The Tenth Conference was held on 11-14 September
2008, at the University of California, Berkeley (Berkeley, California, U.S.A.). Visit the conference website —
