American Association for the History of Medicine conference April 29-May 2

Message from Lesley Dean-Jones

Thanks to the efforts of Julie Laskaris, for the first time in several years SAM will be sponsoring a panel at this year's American Association for the History of Medicine conference.

The full program for the conference (April 29-May 2, 2004; Madison, WI) is now posted online, together with information for registering, lodging, transportation, etc.

SAM's panel, "Ancient Medicine and Surgery," will be held on Friday, April 30, 1:15-2:45 pm (see page 2 of the program). (N.B. They have renamed the panel. As per our original intentions, the common theme of the papers is the symptomology, pathology, physiology, anatomy and treatment of the head.)

The deadline for registering is March 29. The instructions for registration are somewhat unclear, as there is no special category for non-members; we've been told that non-members should simply register as members (unless they're students or independent scholars, for whom there are separate instructions). In other words, non-students/independent scholars should all register in the 'members' category, whether or not they are members.
